Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitar player and music artist. She was the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she has had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live in concert and act as a host at the awards ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. During during her early years, she swam in London New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. After that, she relocated into Encinitas CA, where she earned her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Her career as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her young age. Her father was with her in many performances for several years. The singer has released Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. The stage work she has done is extensive for she has appeared in all of the world's major venues. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. Bapi: The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 novel, and is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. She's also appeared in. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, where she played an Bharat dancer in the form of a young girl. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will only continue to grow and grow. We are looking forward to seeing many new things from her. Anoushka was raised in England and spent a lot of her childhood between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school there. at the age of nine she began her studies in the piano with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar took place during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka, who accompanied her father throughout his global tour, gained a remarkable amount of experience. As a teenager, she played at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was awarded an award by the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and the youngest winner of the prize.
